The Art of Customer Service

Check out this great write up in the Bega District News about our Customer Service Courses now running all over the region.

A GROUP of Bega Valley employees were reminded about the importance of friendly customer service on Thursday.

Eighteen participants, including six Mal’s Pizza Bite employees, took part in the customer service training day at Thornleigh on Newtown, Bega.

The workshop was run and funded by Illawarra iTeC-South Coast in conjunction with the Bega Chamber of Commerce.

Teacher Donella Roberts from iTeC took participants through a range of topics, including how to field customer complaints, how to present yourself, knowledge of product and showing enthusiasm.
The course usually costs $400 per person, but thanks to iTeC, participants paid only $25 to take part in Thursday’s workshop.

Bega Chamber of Commerce president Mal Barnes, who owns Mal’s Pizza Bite, said the course was applicable to any field of work.

However, after sending six employees to the customer service training day, Mr Barnes was exhausted after running the shop by himself.

“It’s very interesting and I already had some employees come back with ideas they would like to implement,” Mr Barnes said.

“It was a very good course and Donella Roberts did a great job.

“Everyone deals with customers, from a doctors’ waiting room staff member through to a check-out operator, so it’s something everyone should really do.”
Mr Barnes said tentative plans were in place to run another training workshop.
